2 Row Reversible Scarf

Have you been into the shop lately? I only ask because if you have you've seen me all bundled up while my mom is in t-shirts. I'm cold. All the time. I blame the fact that I sit down at the computer and click through ravelry all day (my next pattern is going to be for a mouse glove to cover up my cold mouse-clicking hand). And by "click through ravelry all day" I mean... updating the website and answering store email. If I were smart, I'd get my butt out of my seat and warm up a bit! OR I'd knit the coziest scarf possible and bundle up.

2 Row Reversible Scarf (with endless possibilities)

Cartridge-Belt Rib (that's not really a rib)

Searching for a fun reversible pattern, I found this stitch. Barbara Walker spoke to me. She said, "It is close, non-curling, and looks the same on both sides." I listened and said, "That is AWESOME!"

Reversible, see?

Finished Size: 5" wide by 63" long, unstretched but lightly blocked
Materials: 2 hanks Malabrigo Merino Chunky, 1 pair size US 11 (8.00mm) needles
Gauge - 18.5 sts = 4" (or... 23sts = 5")
Good yarn substitutes at this gauge: Galway Chunky, Cuzco, Peruvia Quick, Sulka

CO 23 sts.
Row 1: K3, *slip 1 with yarn in front, K 3; repeat from *
Row 2: K1, *slip 1 with yarn in front, K3; repeat from * to the last 2 sts, slip 1, K1
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you're almost out of yarn. Bind off.

This "rib" doesn't really stretch or draw in like a real rib, though it has the vertical lines and fluff of a rib - it's super warm! It is found on page 21 of A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker.

Different gauges - use any of your favorite yarns by adding or subtracting stitches in multiples of 4 + 3 to get the width you want. If you need help with this - gimme an email info@sageyarn.com.
